2003 server errors . infect IP addresses of computers. [dhcp clients] [network error]

Q: Every once in awhile I get this error on my server 2003 machine:

The DHCP allocator detects a DHCP server with IP address 192.168.0.16 on the same network as the interface with IP address 192.168.0.1. The key itself is disabled on the interface to avoid confusion followed by clients.

immediatly DHCP: DHCP allocator

The a while attempting to at IP address 2.0.16.0 response to a request from a client. The data is the error code.

There are no other DHCP computers on the network running. When this happens the client machine will not get an IP and automatic private address . which is not in the network or surf the Internet then you have etc.

I to the server to reboot the client computer gets an IP received.

This happens randomly with all the computers on my network.

What would be causing this error? I have other PCs to assign IPs and never this problem before the first time Ive seen.

Re:Ah thats it.

This computer used to have ICS enabled. Though that connection isnt active anymore.

Disabled the service. Hopefully this should work things out.

Thanks for the help. Didn't realize it tried to assign IPs when a connection wasn't selected to be shared.

Re:In your first post you referenced the machine at .0.16, is it always that machine or is the message generated for a number of machines on the net? Any weird software (or ICS enabled) on those client machines? The error is pretty straigtforward, something somewhere is responding to DHCP requests (other than your .0.1 server).

If I have to guess, those machines have ICS enabled…

Re:Theres no computer at 2.0.16.0 on my network.

It always says: The DHCP allocator has detected a DHCP server with IP address <address/computer that wont recieve IP> And thats happened on every computer on my network.

the event id is 30005 source is ipnathlp

Re:Well, go to the computer with IP address 2.0.16.0 and see what it's up to. You'll probably find it has DHCP running.

Edit: what is the even ID and the event source so that we can look this up further?
