Q: Hey, I have an Aopen AK89 Max mobo w / onboard 5.1 sound, I have a Logitech X 5.1 surround sound system to buy. To conclude, I have my micophone Finally, I need use. If I have a crappy sound card, can I enable both onboard and so I could use on the speeakers onbard and microphone to the sound card? Or is there another way. Thanks

Re:Careful…I have the same mobo as you, and for exactly the same reason bought the Chaintech 512. Once I finally got it working I discovered the mic port didn't work anyway.

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure in a previous system I used both my onboard sound as well as a soundblaster live value. In fact, I know I used both on my old Athlon XP 1900+ on an ECS K7S5A board.

Is there some reason you specifically wanted to use the sound output from your motherboard?
