700 oc'd cb0 SMP as a workstation? [dual p3] [quality memory]

Q: Im almost ready to start spending some money to upgrade my main box. The restaurant serves a small lan in my house / office. I am planning to run VMware win2k and (for a RedHat VM to an IRC server to run and maybe a few other servers with little traffic). Im thinkin about goin with -700 is (hopefully clocked to 933) and at least 256meg of .

Where the whole thing seems to start gettin suspect the motherboard. This new Asus looks nice, until I realized that there is no AGP slot, that is, has designed specifically as a server board, workstation without value.

So everyone is already doing what I try? What motherboard are you using? Is anybody aware of any new SMP mbs comin from the pike? Some features that Id really like to have this mb would be a quality chipset, dual ATA100, USB to . I really want an Asus CUSL2 with an extra 370 socket:) Is there a chance?

Re:Well I'll be dipped! That Microstar 694D Pro looks like it may just do the trick. Has ata100 raid, agp4x, and the bios seems to have small fsb and voltage steppings. Heck it even has firewire ;)

Thanks Cryptic

Re:I swear I replied to this at work, but I'll restate my opinion b/c I dont see it here:

Tyan Tiger133, dispite it's Via Apollo Pro 133 chipset, I like this board.

Tyan Tiger100, I kinda like this mobo, no ata66 support, and missing some other features I need, and prefer so I didnt go this route.

Tyan Thunder2400, niiiiiiiice, although it's expensive. The high price kept me from this board. Also I believe it's 440GX chipset.

I'm partial to tyan as far as my dual processor boards go, but Microstar's 694D Pro is supported by anandtech and 2 of my friends….

I chose to go with the Tyan Tiger b/c it fits my needs, you may find one of the others is preferable to you

Re:How serious of a workstation is this? If it is a personal kinda thing, go for it, if it needs to be for real corporate work, I wouldn't try overclocking it too much.

Re:Tiger is not a good idea from the (only) one review that I read. Isn't the whole point of a workstation stability? Anyhoo, http://www.electic.com has that review.

Re:I am looking to do the same execept for a server only board.

Take a look at www.2cpu.com for some advice on the Tyan Tiger 100.

It's supposed to support up to p3-850, some people run 133fsb.
And it has an agp slot.

If you plan on running a server, big or small, stick to scsi.

You regret going ide after all your users start complaining about how
slow your new server is.

BTW Where can you get a Asus CUR-DLS mobo ? If that's the one your
talking about ? I found one on pricewatch for $800
