Q: Do you have an eVGA 7800GTX Factory OC 450 / 1200. NVidia ForceWare 77.77 drivers and have RivaTuner 15.6 installed.
I got my 3D performance settings set to 490 GPU / RAM 1275. I ran the Hardware Monitoring item in RivaTuner and saw the following behavior.
Standard running nothing except the standard Windows applications and show ~ 275 ~ RivaTuner Monitoring 1275 CPU and RAM speeds.
I Battlefield2 go in and I see the following – the CPU speed jumps to 529 . RAM remains at ~ 1275. When I quit the game of the RivaTuner hardware monitoring graph shows the CPU goes to 529 . steps to the 450 for a few seconds and then step down to 275 full. RAM remains the same speed.
Question – Why is jumping to 529 MHz speed when I have selected only 490?
Anyone else seen this?
Thanks!
Best Answer: are you reading bus for video card? or cotroller device for the motherbaord and comunications for it
i have the same card and it reads as a 16 X slot but the buss port for the card reads alot slower
thats normal

Re:I'm not sh*ttin you all … that is what I am seeing in the RivaTuner Hardware monitoring when BF2 is running … I just wondering why it shows that speed and not 490 as I've set it at … is there something wrong in the RivaTuner monitoring ? Anyone else running a 7800GTX (any variant) with RivaTuner 15.6 ? BTW — Don't know if it matter but I am at 1920×1200 RES in BF2. Also same step up in speed and step down in speeds occur when I go in to WoW also.
NOTE: I confirmed my 490 speed setting within the Forceware driver settings — display settings, 7800GTX tab, etc also.
Re::confused: 529MHz would be pretty powerful.
