Q: When using Active Directory is there a way for multiple users to select and then edit their properties as a group? This would be managing a lot easier, but I have not devised a way to still happen. In particular, the setting for forcing a password cahnge.

Re:LDIFDE (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/server/help/default.asp?url=/windows2000/en/server/help/sag_ad_ldif_csv.htm) is what you are looking for. In order to use it you need a very solid understanding of the AD Schema and how to modify it. It's tricky, but it's native . I've used it in test scenarios a few times, but I don't feel comfortable enough to use it live.

You could put a Group Policy on the OU which the users reside and then force the password age to 1 day.
This should force them to change their password the next day.
Why would you want to force a password change? Do you want to enforce a password age and if so that can be done through Group policy also so you wouldn't have to manually trigger it.
Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, you can't change password policy at the OU level — has to be done at the domain level. Otherwise, this should be doable. ![]()

Re:erm.. are the passwords being generated randomly? If so are the passwords generated secure? If you answered yes to both of these I wouldn't worry about finding a way to mass change a bunch of peoples accounts but to look into how your auto account generation is working and see if you can build it into the script there. Doesn't seem like something worth doing manually.
How are you having the accounts/passwords generated now?

Re:No, when the accounts are created, the default is to force them change their password at the next login. We don't want to do that, but have thousands of users that we need to change so that doesn't happen.
edit: the creation of accounts is automated, we don't do it manually.
