Q: no rights, but how do I give them access to other objects?
Re:domain admin, hmm, mb local admin would be better.
Re:are they a member of the Domain admins group or just local admin?
Re:one database is pulling data drom another database. it works fine when server is not active directory when server is set up with active directory an error comes up, path cannot be found. it seems like a rights issue, but the user logged in is logged in as administrator, that's what i don't get.
Re:no not with out runas they simply taken up system user rights so they can access the %systemroot% for dlls and so on with no problems. what exactly are your needing this for i cant see a real reason for doing this?
Re:fuzznuts
thanks for some reason, that isn't working for my app.
the run as command i mean.
I understand the part of service being able to run as a certain user, apps can't?
Re:if its run as a service you can change the default user that it will run as. you can also use the runas cmdline tool to start the app this is only really handy though when logged in as user and you need admin rights dont see much point it using it backwards as the file permsioons should already restrict what the program(system account) and the user can do?
id say your best bet is to muck around with the runas cmd tool
Re:scorpio
thnx for the link. lots of info, infortunately none of it applies to my situation.
