* Active * resizing NTFS partitions . Help! [partition magic] [3gb]

Q: So my main drive is partitioned into C (OS / Apps), M (Media) and S (storage / backup). Everything was fine in the beginning but Im an idiot and only made the OS / Apps 6GB partition that quickly ran out of space. I just want to “take” 2- in the M or the S-partition and “comply” with my C (Windows) partition.

I know and many other programs can do this but I have to make this mistake again and I would not pay for dollars 50-60-70 something.

I heard that I was using QT goodbye to the CD system rescue, but Im having trouble using them. I do not think an “active” help reduce partition.

Any would be greatly appreciated . I, the “C drive to take is currently little scope balloon to five minutes. =

Best Answer: Acronis Disk Director will help you to do this with no problem!

Re:sigh…it's NEVER as easy as we want it to be huh? =)

Well, I am about to upgrade (in a month or so as soon as that new damn raptor comes out) so I think I will try and stick it out till then.

LESSON LEARNED: Don't be greedy with space! An extra 5-10gb for your OS and Apps is a no brainer.

Re:Honestly….. I agree with guy, backup backup backup.

I have used maybe 5 times, the first 1 or 2 it barely worked. the last 2 or 3 were complete failures resulting in formatting.

DO NOT try and let PM do it all in one shot. It has a heart attack. Try one step at a time, but eitherway, goodluck you'll need it.

Re:I have used a lot. I expect this to behave the same way.

So, you first backup your data. You should definitely backup your irreplaceable data on CDs or DVDs.

Then, you use this application to reduce the size of your S partition by

does this without moving the starting point of the partition. So, you will end up with unallocated space after your S partition.

Then, you move your S partition by so that the unallocated space ends up between C and S.

Then, you resize C and make it larger by .

I don't know if this can handle NTFS or not. This is the first time I heard it cannot. But, I never asked!

Re:yes, i've heard of that one but I do not think it can resize ntfs partitions…if it can, how should I go about resizing my active windows partition?

thanks

But, I have heard that it works.

BACKUP your data first!
