Q: Hi,
Im plan upgrade my motherboard, CPU, memory and video card. I wanted to know if after I do it, XP will want me to activate? Ive heard that if you activate XP, the first time, it keeps a record of what your PC specs are. So if I have a large proportion of the components, I think it will try to use it on another PC? Everyone knows what is in store for me here? Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

Re:It will not be long at all.
You are entitled to upgrade your computer even if you have an OEM version of XP (which is the case for you).
Just attempt to activate online. It may activate. If not, you will be given a phone number and you call and answer their questions and it will take 5 minutes.

Re:Hello,
XP came with the PC when I bought it, I have the original disc and registration/ activation code. In fact, a month or so ago, I had to reinstall XP when my PC malfunctioned. I activated it again at that time with no problem. I dread making that call as I can only imagine how long that'll take.
Thanks,

Re:Is your xp OEM or retail?
They will give you a hassle on oem if you tell them.
If you have only activated it once then you can activate again.
After that then they will make you call.
