yes- I have turn off hard disks- can you not have that and have it go into ? I rarely shut off the unit- I just have it set to shut off monitor, hard disks and go into . I never have it hibernate, because that seemed to cause problems. What I just tried is having it go into 15 min. after shutting off the hard disks and monitor, to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help, BTW!

Since you do have turn off harddisks that might be the problem, cause when I was in college I would leave my comp on and it would go into with AIM on. I didnt have the problems you're experiencing. The only difference under the option Turn off Harddisks I have the "Never" option.

thanks- actually, I have it set never to hibernate- it just goes into - and seems to kick me off then, I am assuming- I didn't know if there was a way to prevent that. Before I upgraded, I rarely got disconnected.

Under the option Turn off hard disks, you have never turn off harddisks?

Well you could never have your computer go to sleep but you could set it up so just the monitor goes off? You could also turn on the option that hard drives never go off…

Just click Start/Settings/Control Panel/ then double click Display
Goto the Screen Saver tab and click the Power button.
That should bring you to a new window with the following tabs Powr Schemes, Advanced, Hibernate, APM
Under Power Schemes.. You will have the options to turn off monitor, turn off hard disks, System hibernates
Im guessing your comp is hibernating after a specific amount of time?
