Q: On our web servers ColdFusion Application Server hangs when certain topics CF tags are poorly excuted (CFINSERT example). The first time this happens, put the CPU at 100%. The second time it happens that the second CPU on a 100%. I would like can not allow ColdFusion to run on the second CPU. If both CPUs to get linked kills all ASP pages are served and kill terminal server and other remote access clients. If a CPU is relatively easy we can restart the service when this happens. We are running Win2k Server IIS5, ColdFusion 4.5

We have only had 1 instance where ASP crashed the server (they had an infinite loop in their code). With ASP, you can run things in high process which makes it even more robust. CF on the other hand runs in one process, and when that process dies all Cold Fusion sites die with it…
Enough about ranting about Allaire and CF 
At least my stupid hack seems to have done the job… I haven't received an alert about that server in the last few days now.

Re:Same here, we use ColdFusion a lot (more than we should I think, I mean it's just not fast on an old SS20) and I've never heard a major complaint (not that I'm directly involved, but I do speak with the people a lot). But I doubt we have many SMP boxes because we have to keep most of our sites segregated because of competing companies and a lot of times we get them to pay for the hardware.

Re:Trust me I have bitched! They know of the problem and they won't patch it… they just reccomend upgrading to a new version (which would break 800 websites) or to make sure the people use the faulty tags properly! I really dislike Allair right now but we get a lot of business because of our Cold Fusion hosting.
