Q: Is there a way to open the same port on two computers in my network running with a dlink DI-524 router? thanks
Re:haha yeah im using it to access a server and that server checks for ident. that's why it has to be port 113 on both computers

The *same* port?
On *two different* PC's?
I think not.

Re:not a problem. use a different port for one of the ftp servers, and specify it in any links you provide, eg 123.123.123.123:4104
Re:I'm using it for a ftp server. As far as i knew redirecting ports would not work, but i'm willing to try it. if anybody has a solution for the an ftp let me know though. thanks

wait wait wait….
ident? I assume your trying to get 2 PCs onto mIRC?
You just need 1 machine running ident on your network.
thats all.
the ident request will be sent to that PC (after you set up ident server on that machine). Once the ident request is met by the requesting sever ANY PC on your network can get onto mIRC.
Done this a hundred times.
Edit: Use this (http://www.tucows.com/preview/273039.html) ident server program.
You're getting on IRC, not mIRC. mIRC is a (crappy) IRC client.

Depends on what you want to do. If you are doing HTTP for example, you could setup your 2nd computer to do http on port 81, then in NAT setup port 80 to go to the 1st server, then 81 to go to the 2nd server.
If you are opening it for gaming or something where you can't customize the ports being used on each system, then you may not be able to do it.
Re:you can have another port on the router like 1145 be driected to the lan'd computers port of 113 (or whatever you needed) but I have a feeling that this isn't the answer/situation you wanted.

AMDfanboy says no, but I say why not?
I assume you have DHCP for each PC on the lan, therefore each has its own IP address. All you need to do is go into the setup menu of the router and go to advanced features and set the ports you need opened for each IP address.
I made my own NAT router out of an old PC and Freesco. Opening a port for each PC on my lan was a snap.
yeah thats a snap, but try routing the same port to two pcs…cant be done. since the router translates the LAN IP into the WAN IP on the way out, the inbound packet wouldn't know which internal pc made the request.

yeah i tried that, it said there was a port conflict, i asked more in the way of a hack really because it says right on the manual that you cannot open the same port on more then 1 computer on the network. If anybody knows a hack for it let me know.
