Q: I have this board for exactly four days now. Yesterday afternoon, I lost internet. Called the cable company and everythihg looked good on their end. Started checking my software. No problems that I could find. Pulled the ethernet card from my old computer and put it in the new. BAM! I have internet. So my question is, since this is my first Home Brew machine, there may be something else I could do or see before I call my ASUS Newegg and RMA?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Re:I appreciate your time. I just ran the MS BSA as you suggested and everything came back good. As far as the items you mentioned I should/need to do. I have complied with everything with the exception of the Netgear RP614……….I thank you again for takeing the time to help me. I am really glad I did not have to RMA the mobo.
I hope these are all the problems that will crop up with this first project of mine.

You will probably need to start the system in Safe Mode in order to get at the built-in Administrator account and set its password via Control Panel > User Accounts, because the Administrator account is normally not accessible in there.

Re:I don't know if it really qualifies as a problem. When I set up my K8N-E Deluxe at work, I tried out the onboard firewall briefly. It's effective… I couldn't even join my own domain until I opened the necessary port to let it talk to my servers about joining the domain. But that's not a "problem," it's just a firewall doing its job really effectively

Re:guy…….I took your advice…..well part of it anyway. When I went to uninstall it, there was also and option to 'repair', so I opted to try that first. Bingo…….It worked. Now we will have to see what happens in three or four days? Or is there something else that can be done? Does ASUS or nVidia know of this problem?

Re:mechBogen……….Sorry it has taken a bit longer to reply to you, ended up haveing to go to work. Anyway, I believe your asking if I installed the nVidia Network Access Manager? Well I did do the install from the ASUS CD that came with the Mobo. I just went to device manager and right clicked on the nVidia nForce Network Controller, went to properties, and I do see the Network Access Manager in there under the configuration tab. That is all I have done, was look at that for the first time now.
Hope I answered your question and possible you can point me in the correct direction.

Re:How many IP addresses do you get with your cable account? If the answer is "one," then you may have a networking problem, not a motherboard problem. Also, if you installed the nVidia Network Access Manager, it may be preventing your computer from renewing its DHCP lease at the end of three days with the DHCP server (whether that's a router or the modem). Did you install that?
