Battlefield 1942 Frustration! [amd xp 2400] [case psu]

Q: frustration! 977 503
I just built a new PC for my son: 977 503 2400 977 503
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
AMD XP Radeon 9000 Pro 120MB DDR PNY SATA 128MB
Samsung HD
256MB PC2100
420W Raidmax case/PSU
Cyberdrive 32x CDRW

After install when you try to start the game . Splash screen appears for a few seconds
up, CD drive spins, then nothing. No error or malfunction. Not
running in the background. I have latest patch installed w / o any improvement.

I contact EA Games support . Suggested closing all background processes, setting up audio hardware acceleration, patching, monitoring intstallation DX9. I even edited the standard video refresh text. Nothing has worked! 977 503
I u0026ampve searched the web, found a few other people w / this problem . But no solution was posted. 977 503
The game works fine on my Abit Kg7-R, XP2100 +, R9800 Pro system.

Does someone an idea?

Re:i had this problem once when i was editing maps. for some reason, there was an extra map file or something in the maps directory (mods/somethingsomething/archive) and the game would start and close right away. vanilla 42 wouldnt load, but desert combat would. i kept deleting files until it loaded. i THINK that was the solution =) another thing might have been theh init.con file, there was something in there that stopped vanilla from loading.

make sure you have the latest drivers for theh 9000 so that you have hardware T&L. if you dont have taht, it wont run, i think.

i would try to reinstall and see if that helps at all. i have no idea what this would do, but maybe try a nocd crack.

Re:I think you need more memory. Mine with 512MB PC2100 and it runs just fine. Your video is fine.

Re:The card worked fine on my PC before I bought the 9800 Pro. He plays Warcraft & Morrowind OK. I am planning to try Call of Duty on it this weekend.

Re:I had this problem at a friends house a few nights ago. Turned out to be a gamepad (playstation w/ usb adaptor) that was causing the crash. I doubt this could be your problem but it just shows that it could be many differnet things.

Re:Hrm, I'm guessing it Video Card related. Can you take the 9800 out of your other machine and swap it with the problem system and see if it loads up. If then, you might have a faulty card. Does it load anything else up?
