How To Build A Gaming Computer For Under $1000
Re:If Approx $200 is an option, look at the Gigabyte 8KNXP. Chock full of features and pretty good reviews too.

The Gigabyte 8PENXP (865PE) board looks good too though I don't know if it is (or ever will be) available in the US. You may be able to find one if you are outside the US. It should work out cheaper than the 8KNXP.

Re:The problem with IC7 is, they have really loud fans right now untill they make a reversion and also dont have an IDE raid or ANY onboard lan, like most boards do. You can get the Asus P4P800 Deluxe which has both and performs the best out of all boards out right now and is only $5 difference.

If you MUST have the i875 board, Id get the IC7-G(If you can stand the loud fan), or Asus P4C800-E. Both around $200

Re:The Abit IC7 is also very nice, and is a Canterwood board. Only $137 at Newegg.

Re:Depends on what options you need.

I narrowed down the choices to Asus P4P800 Deluxe, Abit IS7 and Abit IS7-G. I ordered the Asus P4P800 Deluxe and am in the process of setting it up. Should be done by early next week (still waiting for the RAM). Either of these boards are appear to be good boards.

Look up the comparison article on Anandtech to decide on which board will best suit your needs.

Re:Prolly the best barebones deal is the Abit IS7. You can get a retail box of it for $108 retail box shipped. You can prolly find the Abit IS7-E, which is the same thing, without the Ethernet card and sound for about $98. But you might as well spend the extra $8 or so for the sound codec and Ethernet the IS7 has. I am not sure what the point of the IS7-E release was, when it is only $5-$10 less than the IS7. IS7 is probably the best bang for buck. IF you are willing to spend a little more, like close to $150. The Asus P4P800 deluxe is actually the fastest mobo out right now. It even performs better than the P4C800(i875). You can find the Asus P4P800 Deluxe for $142 shipped retail box. It even has IDE Raid and Sata. I dont know which is better. I am actually deciding right now which mobo to buy myself. Its going to be Abit IS7, Abit IS7-G($156 retail shipped)or Asus P4P800 deluxe($142 retail shipped). Im looking towards P4P800. The IS7-G just basically has more sata connectors for raid, but no IDE raid, which is what my drives are, as well as most peoples. Sata is worthless right now imo. I would go with IS7 myself, but in many many benchmarks ive seen, the P4P800 is fastest. I dont know if that is worth $40 extra though.
