Building new comp in a week . need help with x64 + drivers [antec sonata ii] [amd k8]

Q: Hello all. Im building a computer and am relatively new at this. I have an experienced friend to help, but I wanted on this forum about a few topics query. My computer specs are:

+ 450W SmartPower 2.0 Lanparty UT Nf4 Ultra-PSU
DFI D
AMD Opteron Dual Core Model 165 w / Thermaltake Venus 7 Corsair 1GB PC3200 DDR400 977 503 Kit CAS2.5 7200.7 160GB Serial ATA/150 Price Select
Seagate 8MB Buffer w / USB 2.0 160gig NCQ
External HD
PNY Verto GeForce 6800 GS 256MB PCI Express Overclocked DDR3
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Logitech Z 2300
Logitech Deluxe Keyboard
Logitech MX1000
NEC Black ND 3550A

DELL Wide Aspect 1680×1050

Those are my specs . now I use Windows XP x64 OS as my PR. Since Im new at this. What drivers will I need to update? I will do something with the BIOS that came with the MB? Im def a noob when it comes to the software aspect of things. I do not know what I need and what I do not. I would like some advice. I read the thread on x64-bit drivers, but Im not sure what I need. Any help is appreciated. In essence, after I build this thing, what I have before and after I boot this thing.

Re:The drivers for the major items will come in the box (MB, vid card, sound card), and updates you can get from the manf.'s website…. will be very easy.

Re:Thanks for the help. I suppose I will go with XP Pro. One last question. With the components listed above, does anyoen have any advice on things I should look out for when building (drivers, bios, etc.) Also, anyone think that I should add another component?

Re:Put XP Pro on it and enjoy an uncomplicated life. XP64 is not Microsoft's eng-game 64-bit O/S strategy. Has "orphan" written all over it.

Re:isn't getting x64 an investment in the future?
No, as soon as vista is out, you can forget about xp64, for the devs surely will.

Won't the drivers get better?
Many do not see the point in working on them (like a certain TV tuner card company i know), due to the low market share of xp64. Others do not put a priority on it (take a look at the last time nforce 3 drivers for xp64 were updated).

Re:Maybe I will just stick with 32 bit –> only question is… isn't getting x64 an investment in the future? Won't the drivers get better?

If the answer is no. Then if I do just stick with 32 bit… what suggestions do you have at that point?

Re:guy knows what he is talking about…

Re:interesting… anyone else have any thoughts… i have been hearing different things and would like to know other opinions

Re:I thought the computer would just run more smoothly at 64 bit
No, it would not, it would run just about identical to xp32. (i have used xp32 and xp64)

plus i plan on adding another 1 gig whenever i do need it
You will need 4gb or more to make it matter.

so you recommend not using x64?

Re:now I want to use windows xp pr x64 as my OS.
Why?

You are only using 1gb of memory, are you going to be using any 64bit applications?
