Q: Heres the scenario. A new classification have finished near my house. They buried large orange plastic tubes for Charter cable and the few houses there are green signs pedestals.
cable came saying that cable and high-speed Internet is up and running. Me and about three other houses have already been living without cable. We own older homes next to the subdivision layout and street use to travel and trips to a state access highway.
977 503 Once cable / HSI is turned on for the breakdown I have my address on the website, but the Charter was not available. That was about a month ago. Today I entered my address and it shows when service is available and I ordered service.
I spoke with a technician who was installing cable in the subdivision last month and he followed me to my house. He told me that the buried cable was laid by a contractor and he didnt have our way on the schedule to cable because it is paid by the developer of the subdivision to be buried and we are not a part of it, but that he would my phone number.
Now my question is will they through all the trouble of digging a trench to go for about 1000-1200 meters for the big orange tube wiring, and then a base and the route of the cable to my house and maybe another house to install. The technician told me that was a straight shot down our dirt road but the road to my house is long and it costs about $ 4.00 or more per foot and only one or two houses. He also said that I will have to wait until the beginning of year 977,503 new budget.
What budget has he left?

Re:Should be quite a bit, as all you would pay extra for is the materials
and maybe the Pedestal and the drop from the pedestal into your home.
You say telephone cables are underground .. stay about 3 feet from them
When telco comes out to mark them, ask how many and how far out they are
Also do you have any underground Water or Sewer Lines ? ?
You need to keep clear of them.

Re:Interesting. My wife told me that her father in law have access to a Ditch Witch. My neighbors don't really care about it since we both own and mantain the road ourselves.
It still sounds a little intimidating so I will have to think about it. It is free also to get the utility company to mark it. The only thing in the ground right now is the telephone wires. Our electric is on poles and water is from private wells.
I wonder how much will that shave off the whole cost?

Re:the cost to get wireless that far to be strong may be as expensive for them to run the cable. if its 300 feet, you could use cat6 cable for the run between the houses. but this is going to be a legal/ethical issue. you both are suppose to pay for your own service.
find out the cost for the cable co to do the run since your paying the rest past 300ft. see if they would run the cable through the pipe if you had your own group run a pipe for them, that may be cheaper since you can "shop" around or even do as guy suggests. if you take up most of that grunt work, you can save money since it's your labor, you just have to research if everyone will let you, give you permits, etc and cost.

Re:So then if you want it, you will need to pay Labor & Materials for the other 570 odd feet .. now if it is a Dirt Road
is it owned / maintained by your City, Township / Municipality ? ? Would they mind if you dug a small (about 6" wide)
trench about 30 inches deep ? ? Of course, you or your contractor would need to fill it in .. Have a Utility Markout
done along the road to be nothing is down there … if it is clear a Ditch Witch (used for lawn sprinklers) can easily
dig that trench in about 15 minutes .. then lay in some plastic pvc pipe — use 1" or 1 1/2" to make it easy for for the
cable company to run their Coax or Fiber Optics thru

Re:Cable man told me my house is 860 feet from nearest ped. They will only pay 300 feet.
The next thing they will do is get the area survey for serviceabilty and cost.

Re:Another possibilty is my neighbor is only 300-500 feet from the recently buried cable and there is a green box around 500 feet from his house. He also ordered online but I don't know what they told him.
If he gets cable internet, Would it be possible if he agrees to, to set a wireless connection from his house to mine? I am new to this and have no idea how it works but I read somewhere that you can do something like that.
His house is 500 feet from mine.

Re:haha. way to go guy. and when charter trys to charge you if they can't get you cable anyways, tell them "hell no, you didn't hook me up so you don't get paid, you said I can get service, and sent the tech to install it, it's not my fault your company screwed up" lol.

Re:It does looks better with Paragraphs!! Thanks guy.
Today I finished ordering the Cable from Charter. The lady told me I am all set up for installation tomorrow and should be surfing that afternoon. Ha, HA!!!
I didn't mention any of my issues. I just deal with that tomorrow with the technician.

Re:Paragraphs please.
When it comes to where the cable is put you have no say in the matter. For only 3 people to sign up it's not going to be worth their time to run the cabling, set up the boxes, plus wire your house for cable as well.

Re:ok, wow. first of all, i know church that was in this same exact situation. sure the cable company would love to give you service. you have to pay for it though, the cost per foot is more than a dollar though. i cant remember the exact cost, but the church was about 1/10 of a mile from the last house which had cable. the church owned a hell of a lot of land (catholic church, of course it has the $$$) but the cost for the cable run i think was around $12,000, they were not going to run it underground though, it was going to be via telephone poles, that is how it was done for the rest of the town… time to complete if the church said yes… who knows, the cable company was only going to do the work when the weather was good, summer months, it would have taken about a year if it went through. the church went for satellite internet instead (it was crap)… the charter cable tech can only guess, most of the people at the company can only guess an answer. at least that is how comcast cable is around here, they were going to do the cable for the church. the budget the tech was talking about, i'm guessing he thinks that the cable company would seriously pay for installing a run to those houses away from the development that was just put in, the budget he is talking about is the cable company's budget probably concerning the expansion of services part of it. i honestly do not think the cable company would pay for it. who ever says yes to getting cable to you will want you to pay for the run.
