Can I use this vacuum cleaner to clean the Arctic Silver 5 CPU? [arctic silver 5] [waldom]

Q: All, I think a bit too much

I applied on my cpu and I plan on removing the HSF and cleaning the bottom of the HSF and CPU. Did any of you know if GC isopropyl alcohol (anhydrous) Cleaner 16 fl. oz. Appropriate and can be used? I live near an Altec store and went through the swing and some pick-up. I have? See T% isopropyl alcohol because it is not listed on their site, but I wanted something input.

Altex get? S site: http://www.altex.com/product_info.php?products_id=4094

CPU: AMD FX-60
HSF: Zalman CNPS 7000B-Cu LED

Thanks

Re:I use a SI 120 with nexus fan..works great..got from Jat tech..awesome service

Re:I noticed that you've got a P180 case along with the A8N-SLI Premium, so I'd rather not recommend Big Typhoon. It could be a bit too heavy for the board to sustain it for longer period of time. I'd go with something lighter. But like I said, stock AMD heatpipie heatsink works wonders. Check the GamePC's benchmark out. It compares to the new Zalman CNPS9500.

Re:IF you have the cash for an FX-60, go buy a Mach II while you're at it :P

Also, AS5 is not 'just hype' there are verifiable differences in the temperatures before and after, and 5 bucks for a 2-3C drop sounds like a decent deal to me o_o
(Considering an extra cooler for another ~5Cs will cost you 30-40, and a water setup for that 20C drop will set you back $200)

Re:I'm using TT Big Typhoon. Great performance. Especially compared to CNPS7000. Load temp would be dramatically lowered. (10~15C lower) However, this thing is heavy. And not necessarily easy to install. If you don't mind initial time investment and some frustration, I'd strongly recommend it. Alternatives: Scythe Ninja, TR SI-120, TR XP-90, Zalman CNPS9500. 7000s were good at the time but it's been out over 2 (3?) years ago. Definitely go with a HSF that utilizes heatpipes. Wait a sec, FX-60? Doesn't it come with a heatpipe HSF? I bet it performs better than CNPS 7000!

Re:Thanks All. I appreciate the feedback as this is my first system build. I'm loving the move from purchasing Dells to building one myself.

Lopri – I notice you are using the same board as I am. What HSF are you currently using? Thanks!

Re:Like I said in another thread, 99% Alchohol (and Arctic Silver as well, for that matter) is just a hype. I use whatever is available to me at the time. CK One, Kenzo, and sometimes even Grey Goose. They work all fine and smell better.

The 99 cent bottle of 50% Isopropal Alcohol from your local grocery store works just fine as well.

Thats what I've always used. I've never had a problem.

Re:Anhydrous alcohol is at least 99% pure, so I think it will work in removing the AS5 from the CPU, since I have used 70% isopropyl and it also works like a charm.
