Q: I have booted into dos with a win95 floppy and then typed: format c:
When me it gives me the error message. How do I make it . um, not a network drive? Do I have the shared folders? Or should I just plug in my network cable?
Running win xp home.

use a win95B (or C possibly) disk, or use a windows 98 boot disk.

Re:you can't format it with a win95 boot disk because more than likely the drive is using NTFS. Depending on which Win95 version you used, it only sees fat16 and fat32 partitions. You'll need to use FDISK to delete the "Non-DOS" partition. Why are you using a win95 boot disk anyways?
