Q: Hi all,

I posted this question (http:// ($ MySite) / messageview.cfm? Catid = 31 u0026 threadid = 905 413) the . Do not do anything, but maybe this forum is best place.

Basically my and monitor can say they at 1920×1440 resolution, but Win2k does not give me the option! Is there something wrong?

Much appreciated.

Re:I'm running mine at 1792X1344@85Hz right now(just to check) make sure you have the maximum resolution/refresh rate set in the "displays" tab of the advanced display properties (or wherever you can configure the DDC properties of your monitor display)

Re:Oooh, after almost 3 years, I finally graduated out of "Junior Member" status :)

Re:Thanks for the replies. Yes, I've tried updating drivers for both the monitor and the . In the process, I've removed the components from the control panel and re-installed. Still nothing :(

As to the Windows limitation, another guy said the same thing. Do any of you run above 1600×1200? Maybe I need to get into video tweaking or something. Yet my impression is that some people don't have a problem going above 1600res in the standard Windows display->settings panel.

The reason for this is that I play an online game called Subspace (the particular version I play is called Powerball) (http://www.powerballzone.com). It's a 2D massively multiplayer shoot-em-up game. Where the resolution comes in to play is how big of an area do you see on screen. The more you see, the more you can see weapon fire or enemies coming at you. At one time, 1600×1200 was a luxury. But now everyone plays it at that res. The leading edge is at 2048×1636!

Re:Ensure that you have a specific driver for the monitor installed rather than "Plug & Play Monitor" wherever possible. Windows ME/2000 onwards has a feature to hide resolutions that it believes the monitor can't display….generally it predicts this right but not always.

Re:Try updating the driver for your monitor, if that doesn't work, remove the monitor from the device manager and restart, hopefully it will auto detect the correct settings.

Re:Try upgrading to the latest video drivers. Exactly what kind of and monitor do you have? Its possible that at resolutions higher than 1600 by 1200, the frequency and color combination may not be supported by your monitor.

Re:It may be a windows limitation, sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. Why such a large resolution anyways?
