Q: I have a dual boot of 98/2k. In 1998 I see both my DVD player and my burner. In 2k I can not see. They are good in the bios too.
I him walk with an A7V mobo and have tried many different configurations with secondary / master primary/slave.
Right now my hard drive is master on the primary ide and my DVD drive is master the secondary and my CDRW is slave to the secondary. I like this configuration and would like to keep it as it already installed possible.
I promise of 2000 ATA 100 drive in case anyone is wondering that. Any ideas?

Re:Thanks for the suggestions.
I ended up solving the problems by hooking my drives up to the ata 100 secondary ide port.

Re:Now when you go into device manager and double click on the secondary IDE channel:
In the general tab the device usage is enabled?
From my experiences if in the advanced tab if device type is greyed out then the device has been detected. If it's not greyed out have you run the troubleshooter on the general tab? If you've run the troubleshooter and still have no luck, boy and I hate saying this, have you tried different revisions of via's busmaster drivers?
Usage is enabled. It is not grayed out. I have run the troubleshooter. Nothing from the troubleshooter.
No, where do I get different versions of via's busmaster drivers?

Re:I understand that you want to keep your current configuration, but if you move each of your CD drives to be slave to the hard drive, they are seen by win2k, right?

Re:I think if I install a different driver for the secondary ide controler it should work, can i use the win98 driver in win2k? Does anyone know of a good alternative to the standard win2k secondary ide driver?

Re:Did you install both the master and the slave in Win2k. You need to do both otherwise it will just see the one channel. Check in the control panel -hardware -device manager and see if the second channel is installed.
