Case Fans will not stop spinning after the computer shuts down! [case fans]

Q: Does anyone know what is wrong with my computer? Recently, I noticed that the in my computer will not stop spinning, even after I shutdown the computer through the windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best Answer: Have you tried some software based controller like speed fan, rivatuner or ATI Tool (don't worry it works with nV cards aswell).

I would buy an aftermarket cooler like a HR-03.
Even passively this cooler will keep temps lower than most mid-range card's stock coolers, and if it needed it you can strap a 120mm fan to it.

Nocturne jogs me into waking up.

Are you sure that you have the system set to shutdown, and not hibernate when you shutdown?

Positive.

Can you remove the power button header and the reset button header (on the mobo) – make a note of which is which.

Touch the power button header (2 pins) with a screwdriver for a half second to start the machine.
Shut down using the START/SHUTDOWN in win.
Do the fans still run?

Try that, then, try shutting down by jumping the power button again.

Any difference?

I will definitely try that when I get the chance. Thanks for all the suggestions!

The power is coming from somewhere…..
BUT…..
I have heard of sff case/mobos having a sort of thermostat on them that will keep the fans running for a while to ensure the case cools down.
Does the fan shut off eventually?

What about if you open up the case? Do the fans stop quicker?

No, I do not believe it is some sort of thermostat function of the motherboard, as it is currently freezing in my house and the fans still run even w/ the case off.

Re:I have a Shuttle AN35N w/ an AMD mobile and a 300W Allied PSU. Could it be that my power supply is "leaking" power and that I need to get it replaced?
