Trying to help a laser printer, laserjet 4m plus / install Jetdirect [hp laserjet 4m] [jetdirect card]

HP, it has a Jet Direct Card too.

So installed, I connect a patch cable from the JetDirect card into the printer to my router.

Then on my computer, Im looking for this printer, but it never finds it.

Right now Im on a direct cable modem to NIC connection.

Im wondering if I have a router with a firewall between the modem and the NIC will do anything to get rid of the pop-up ads by marketers via the Internet? (By pop-up ads, I mean the windows shopping ads u003cuseru003e u003cmessageu003e style ie without sending)
