Caymen Rounter DSL w / 4 port hub and Five Ips [port hub] [rounter]

Q: I do not know if this is possible, but I try to get as 20 computers on an IP with DHCP and 4 other comps with their own ips, but all still able to communicate within the LAN. The DSL modem is a modem router combo with a built-in 4 , made my Caymen. Everybody Everybody

Re:<< Static Route: route add -p 192.168.1.0 mask 255.25.255.0 10.1.1.1 >>

Small thing…mask here should be 255.255.255.0. Probably goes without saying, but I hate to take anything for granted.

Re:I'm not familar with the Cayman device, but I can tell you that your goal is doable because it is exactly what I'm doing here.

I have five usable static IP addresses; one assigned to the router which dishes up DHCP to the internal LAN. The other four are assigned to the server allowing WAN access.

In my case, though, my DSL device (Cisco 675) and router device (Linksys) are seperate units. I simply connected the Cisco to the switch, then the switch to both the Linksys and the server. Setup a different route on the server.

That's it for me….

Re:The route statements and addresses go on the PCs. On the router, either set it to "trust" the addresses on the hub (outside / on the WAN interface) or set the router to pass the specific ports you need for the outside/inside traffic.

Re:I don't see any of that in the router settings, please help

Re:gonna give it a try first thing tomorrow, i'll let you know how it goes

Re:Should be no big deal.

Set up a static route (see below) to the internal, default everything else to the ISP. Set up port forwarding per service(worse case) or setup up the four exteranl machines as trusted addresses (best case).

Example:
Default gateway: 10.1.1.254 (ISP end of the link)
Router Outside address: 10.1.1.1
Router Inside address: 192.168.1.1

Four machines, external (on the WAN side of the router):

10.1.1.2, 10.1.1.3, 10.1.1.4, 10.1.1.5 (all with /24…whatever).
Default gateway: 10.1.1.254

Static Route: route add -p 192.168.1.0 mask 255.25.255.0 10.1.1.1
(Edit: should read ………………..mask 255.255.255.0 10.1.1.1)

(this sends anything destined for the 192.168 net to the WAN side of the router, which is hopefully configured to pass the traffic, all other traffic goes to the ISP)

"Inside" machines:
192.168.1.2-254, default gateway: 192.168.1.254

DNS, Mail, News, etc all according to the ISP for all machines.

Good Luck

Re:4 external static ips from pachell and 1 ip for all other computers to share via the router.

Re:<< Don't know if this is possible, but I'm trying to get like 20 computers on DHCP with 1 ip and 4 others comps with their own ips, but all still able to communicate within the lan. >>

Do you mean that all your machines, whether using static or dynamic addressing, would have private addresses? Or do you mean that the 4 machines with static addressing would be using public (registered, routable) IP addresses?

Big difference in these two scenarios.

P.S. Not sure that's the right model number. I'm betting it's the 3220-H, documentation for which can be found here (http://www.cayman.com/documents/pdf/3220h_ug_562.pdf) and here (http://www.cayman.com/documents/pdf/3220h_qs.pdf).

Re:Model
Cayman-DSL1650238

Re:I almost had an idea, but it won't work. This would be a lot easier if you had a separate DSL modem. :)

Is there any way to turn off the router and turn one of the LAN ports on the modem into a standard full access port like on a normal DSL modem? If you just made the port in the DMZ I dunno if it'd let all 5 IP's go through.

Which model of Cayman is it? 3220H or something else?
