Changing Desktop Icon Text / Font in XP [windows xp sp2 rc2] [desktop area]

Q: Hi guys, quick

Another rtegards question customizing the desktop of .

I I try to change the font and color of my desktop icon names (or even completely remove the title change!) But Im not very lucky.

Does Windows XP have a built-in editor that allows you to do these mods, or do you D / L a third-party program like TweakUI or Style XP to do this? 0.

Thanks-Rob

Re:It must not work for Xp Style… because the color dropdown is disabled.

In "Display Properties" hit the Appearance tab and then click Advanced. On that window that pops up, from the first drop-down list select Icon. Then below that you'll have another drop-down list where you can choose the font, and to the right of that you can change the font size.<BR>This is using Windows Classic Style, so let me know if it doesn't work for XP style.

This works for me. I'm able to change the colors using this.

Re:bump.

I was about to post this question about changing the font color.
If I Google for changing the Font color in Xp, it pretty much says you can't do it. It seems like its controlled by the background color, which I don't think is totally true. I change my background color to white and it will change it to black font..*IF* and when I don't have a wallpaper displayed. When I enable a white wallpaper the fonts go back to white with shadows. It sux.

anyone have any ideas?

Re:Hi, thanks for the reply.

The problem I have is that with Windows XP, I can't seem to be able to choose the font color using that method! I can change the font type/size/bold/italic, but no color option, weird.

Do you think that TweakUI would help here?

This is using Windows Classic Style, so let me know if it doesn't work for XP style.

Re:Yes, but it doesn't seem to be working very well for me…. :(

Re:Er, doesn't XP have a built-in theme manager?
