Q: I looked at the event viewer – I hope things do not understand
Comp turned on to 12:27 this morning – it was the login screen when I got up this morning so it was about six hours.
Event log and this is also on May 8 same time.
I have not set that I can do this.
How figure out what is going on?
Best Answer: are you sure every part and cable is secured properly becuase a loose connection seems like likely solution if it's not overheating unless your psu is faulty, if it's the psu couldn't swap it in from the place you bought it from or call and say you think it might be faulty?

That's one possibility; another is that the machine is being told to turn itself on by an application, so do a spyware scan (www.microsoft.com/antispyware), and also check the BIOS for a power-on time (many BIOSs offer this feature as well).
In bios the power on settings were wake on Lan – off, power up by modem – off
but automatic power on had been set to 00:27 every day. Not by me that i can remember. I'm the sole user of this comp.
I did the ms antispware MS Defender install and update – scan came up with nothing.
one other suspicious thing – my start menu has a couple strange entries:

so i dunno

I believe it in the bios. It should have an option to disable the wake on lan setting.
Your're right – I'll make sure it's ticked off
in fact sometime ago when i built this computer it was definitely off
How would it get turned on ?
And what program needs access after midnight. ?
