Q: Hi, Corsair XMS Memory
I purchased some thats rated at 2-3-3-6. I wanted to confirm these assessments so I opened CPUz and the readout is CAS # Latency 3.0 clocks RAS to CAS 3 clocks RAS # precharge three bells, cycle time 8 clocks.
Im where I can view / edit it in my bios setings. I see a “Change frequency DIMM and theres options like 1.33, 1.66, 2.0 . are set to automatic . should I change it?
I have a P4 and my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8knxp with the latest bios.
Best Answer: The RAM is Virtual memory. I think you are talking about the processor. RAM just says that you have this x amount much virtual room on your computer, kind of like a hard drive but soome space for your processor to work with.
Re:You could bump it up to 256, but you won't see much performance gain. May cause instability.
Re:Hmm….ok thanks i got to the correct menu. my only option was 2.5 not 2.0 like the memory is actually rated at. That seems weird. Anyway i got it running fine at 2.5. Any reason why i may not have that option?
Also in that menu i noticed my AGP aparture size is set to 128mb. I got a 6800GT and 1gb of ram is this the correct setting?
Re:Go to the Frequency/Voltage Control menu in the BIOS and then press the Ctrl + F1 keys. A word of caution: your motherboard uses a chipset that doesn't like super-tight timings, and there's not much to gain by forcing them, so are you sure you want to do this? Don't say I didn't warn ya…
