Cooler Master DP5-6131A and Athlon 1.4.

Q: Im building annother system and my friend said I had this fan when he bought and never used it. Would it be ok to use with an Athlon 1.4? I havnt heard or had any experience with this fan so I just wanted to move forward before I use .

Thanks

Re:It should work OK. But IMO, if someone needs to get a better heatsink, all you need to spend is 19$ on an OCZ Gladiator :)

Re:Thanks for the help, ill see how it goes.

Re:Yes, that hsf will be fine.

Re:It's an AMD approved fan for 1.4Ghz, so at least it will work fine with non OC system.

Re:I had that HSF, HAD is the operative word. The CPU ran hot all the time so I'd recommend you got something better from the start. I wouldn't want to spend all that money on all that nice stuff just to save $25.00 at most for a good copper base HSF. From what I've learned here that's the most important part of an ATHLON based system. Just a friendly warning.

Good luck

Re:try to use an exhaust fan too !!
airflow in and out of the case {cool air in at bottom front, warm air out top rear, helps the cpu to stay cool too} (*;*):)

Re:yes…just make sure you install it properly…so that seating is good…otherwise you'll likely face higher temps.

Re:Wasnt planning to OC at all, should the temps at least be OK or acceptable?

Re:It should be okay but coolermaster's are POS HSF's in my opinion…i wouldn't plan on doing any OCing with that HSF.
