cooling at a final 1-p 3500 c 1978? [slot 1] [mobo]

Q:: confused:

im still trying to determine this (checking or stupidity to get?)

replaced ram
replaced vid card
replaced hdrives
replaced psu

was told cpu / HS for gaps

there check is a gap (but path becomes hs and cpu), but only path from the rest of HS is 1 / 16 difference?
this is encased in a black plastic holder mounted 90 degrees motherboard
this was loose before allowing CPU to tense and dissolve
since I. realigned this (did not help) still the same problem, freezes (hard property tax) as gets warmed anytime.

the BIOS reports as freezes cpu temp at 78 (+ or – 3 degrees) c
i put a big fan right of 10 degrees was cold to the touch max
hs reduced cpu and cpu / board was cool to touch

any suggestions?

: confused:

Re:THANKS guy!!!!

sounds right to me,now will wait till wednesday to hit up radio shack lol

b]MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/b]

Re:did you remove the plastic sheet from the bottom of the heat sink thermal pad… I would remove the thermal pad and get some thermal heat sink compound from radio shack and forget the pad pad=bad. it sounds like there is no contact with the cpu and heatsink.
If there was the heatsink would be warm too..
bust a move to radio shack and scrape the tape !! Joo can doo It! scrape the tape!!

Re:i cant remember what degree f but i know high 150f to 160 f

Re:it goes 75 to 81 degrees c

but when i touch hs it is cold/cool

not sure if readings are accurate.

Re:If your system monitoring program is accurate then you need not operate that machine until it is adequitly cooled because that temp is waaay too high!

BTW, which is it, is it running at 78c like stated in your title or is it running at -3c and 78f as stated in your post? If it is the former then don't run it until you are adequitly cooled or you will fry your processor, if it is the latter then it is running at normal temps and is not your problem.
