Q: I have a comparison between two sticks of 1 GB each, a DFI Lanparty Nf4 Ultra-D DDR500.
On, with a X2 3800 + in socket.
I plan to overclock the processor as much stability as possible, so that more RAM would be?
If the $ 60 increase in the price of the OCZ sticks worth?
Re:I think the apple missed the boat. Just get whichever is cheaper, honestly is does not matter that much. Overclocking RAM is just a waist of money any way imo.

G.SKill HZs (Black) or their cheaper ones (Aquaish)…. they also have some nice looking red ones.

The HZs run @ DDR500; ~200 shipped on the egg.
He's already got 2gbs of XMS rated at DDR500, it would be a waste of money to spend that much on HZ's
Most likely his XMS will be able to handle 260fsb if he loosens the timings. Even if the ram can't he can always put up a divider and take a small hit in bandwith.
definitely lowering the divider would be a much better option. And a divider is something u can change in bios. your probably at 1:1 ratio right now, u can always downstep to 5:6 or even 1:2 if ur gonna have a realy high fsb.

What's all this divider talk/ I've been out of the loop for like 2 years, so I'm not up to date on the jargon.
A divider runs the ram at a ratio of the FSB, so you can have high FSB and run your ram.
If you look in your memory timing settings, there should be an option that lists a couple speeds, 400mhz 333mhz 266mhz and 200mhz (some mobos it might be 200, 166, 133, 100) DFI boards have more options, but typically most mobos are going to have those. If you're trying to run 280×9 on your CPU but your ram can't handle 280FSB, you put up a divider to run your ram slower. For example if you run the 333mhz or 166 divider, to calculate your ram speed, its 333/400 multiplied by your FSB giving you 232mhz for your ram speed. For the 266 divider it would be 266/400 multiplied by your FSB giving you 186mhz for your ram speed.
If you have valueram, you almost always have to run a divider since valueram can't hit high speeds.

Re:It's a type of chip on ram modules.
Those little black things on the actual stick have text on them and tell what type of chip they are.
You can probably google it for more info.
Re:I have the cheaper OCz PC4000 Gold sticks as in my sig and I have taken them all the way up to 265 playing around at 3-4-3-8…I'm not sure the VX chips are worth the extra money.
