Q: Boys got a big problem now. I can not look at my 3000 + Winchester MSI K8N Neo 2 Plat and my Overclock. more than 209Mhz FSB. I have tried everything possible, I think, and even plain boot past 209Mhz on everything, at 210 and above starts in safe mode and tells me to go into BIOS and now Im overclock.
Right confirm the performance of the 1.41 modded bios, and Ive tried about 3 other and they all do the same BIOSes thing.
My setup:
AMD 64 3000 + K8N Neo 2 Winchester
MSI Real Power 450W Platnium
Coolermaster PSUI
PQI PC32000 Turbo 1GB Dual Channel Kit (Samsung TCCD / Braindpower PCB)
74GB Raptor
BFG 6800 GT Audigy 2 Live
SB Platinum
NEC 3500A DVDRW
I am assuming that my motherboard has to be defective, or something, because I can not understand why I can not easily about such a simple clock to boot with my setup. With the hardware I use, I can easily get at least 270Mhz FSB. So what do you recommend? Ive searched all and not seen anyone with this problem so im guessing this is not common, and most likely means I have a defective board.
Please any advice would be grateful.

Re:if ur cpu is failing prime95 at stock speeds usually means theres a problem… id say ur memory is fine because ur passing memtest fine.. prime tests cpu well and u say its going slow so im thinking its ur chip… id email amd or newegg whoever u get it from so forth.. and ask them what they think… obviously you dont tell them u overclocked just say that you checked ur computer on prime95 because it was running unbelievably slow and it crashes… besides that make sure ur ram is all on the right settings and anything about id say 250 ur gonna need that htt below 4 im at 3x right now at 2.6 260 1:1 ram.. u should be fine.. but if ur chip is already damaged nothing u can do about it.

Re:Do what guy said and check that the SATA hard drive is connected to SATA port 3 or 4 on the motherboard. Ports 1 & 2 are not locked and will cause instability when you overclock. If you continue to experience difficulties after moving the SATA drive to one of these ports then please go to the Cell Menu in BIOS and post all your settings so we can help you overclock that bad boy.

Re:make sure your SATA drives are on ports 3+4 on the mobo, for sure. and then be POSITIVE your all your settings are right. also, that bios could be the problem…try getting this bios: http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=49304
scroll halfway down and get the version with the flasher already included.

Re:okay guys I'm still having a huge problem. For some reason now my system is unstable at OEM settings, nothing overclocked. The system was running more stable overclocked than it was with stock settings. I tried Memtest, I ran it for 9.5 hours without any errors. Then I ran Prime95 and within 5 minutes I get an error. Only thing is, I have no idea where the problem is coming from… When my computer crashes usually I get BSOD's, if I'm playing Counter Strike sometimes the program just closes unexpectedly, and sometimes my computer just restarts on its own. It never crashes the same way all the time. So I am having a hard time discovering what the problem is. Could it be the motherboard itself? By the way I am running 1.41modded BIOS.
The error I got in Prime was "Rounding was 16, expected less than 0.4"
I get this error right after Test 2 when loading Prime. So I guess it keeps failing Test 3.
I have no clue what that means.

Your confusing the multiplier of the HTT with the HT ( LDT )…
They said for you to change HT from 5x to 4x or 4x to 3x
the multiplier should be the same
ahhh… I get cha now. Lemme see if that works, I'll brb.

Don't understand this. Can you elaborate on the underclocking thing ?
sure…
4 x 250Mhz = 1000Mhz
9 x 200Mhz = 1,800Mhz (stock)
So lowering the multiplier did nothing to overclock my CPU, it underclocks it.
Im trying to hit anywhere from 2.4-2.6Ghz

this might be my problem. I forgot to switch my multiplier to 3 ![]()
Re:How is your board defective? It runs fine at stock. You should be happy it works at anything above 200, not whining because it can't do 270.
