Q: Click here for the roadmap for desktop processors (http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image/2/0, 3363, sz = 1 i = 20824.00 u0026. JPG)
It shows that all 800MHz FSB chips will have 1MB L2 cache and will be applied to 2.4 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 3 if I remember correctly.
Anyone an idea for prices on the 2.4 GHz with 800MHz FSB? Oh, and all the 800MHz FSB chips will Hyperthreading if you do not already know. I think I will wait until then to upgrade, someone else does the same?
Re:I'm planning on getting the 865PE mobo in June for it.
Re:I am waiting for a 800 fsb 2.4ghz HT enabled cpu, As Thugrook proved with his P4B533 it can go 225fsb+ so 12×225 sounds good to me.
Re:Just bear in mind you'll have to get a new M/B to support the 800mhz FSB when they come out. I think I read that the new processor will also support 533mhz FSB, then of course you don't get the full benefit of the new processor if it's downgrading itself to the 533mhz bus speed. My mobo support 533mhz, but my processor is only 400mhz, my next upgrade will be to one with 533mhz FSB, I don't know about the HT technology though. Seems the minute you upgrade to one thing, there is something else coming up that you wish you had waited for. Well, I don't have a vehicle, so I spend a bit more money on my computer.
Cheers,
guy
Re:Oh shoot, i thought I saw a 1mb L2 cache, but I guess I didn't
Re:We saw this exact same roadmap at Comdex last year (expect for the Q1 2004 info). Take a look at our Comdex roadmap coverage here (http://www.{$MySite}/showdoc.html?i=1752).

The processor listing at the bottom lists #7 as being a Pentium 4 w/512KB L2 cache and 800MHz FSB. That #7 is further appended to P4's clocked at 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, and 3.2GHz….which would most definitely imply that all 800MHz FSB P4's clocked lower then 3.2GHz are Northwood 512K cores, albeit with HT enabled.
I would tend to believe only the processors listed without an appended number would be the Prescott 1MB L2 processors, those being listed at 3.2, 3.4 and 3.6GHz.
