Q: I have my saved games to save from a previous install d2 and while they work with the new installation, I can not save any further progress and all my game settings are wiped everytime I reload diablo 2.
Is a site that might be an answer to how to save new to work with an old save game file?
Re:np guy, i'd be lying if i said i had never done something like that myself. you wouldn't believe how many times i have copied mp3s off a cd, and then wondered why i couldn't change the ID3 tags

Re:did you store the save files on a cd? if you did, check to make sure you have removed the read-only attribute. this could be why diablo2 can't add extra data to your save file.
Re:actually save games were version 101 so i only patched with 101 they should be compatable right?
Re:1) were you using Diablo2 version 1.03 before reinstalling?
2) Did you remember to install the 1.03 patch after you reinstalled the game?
If you did not, then your freshly installed game version 1.00 will not recognize the save files which are 1.03. Diablo2 has a tendency to revert unrecognizable character files into level 1 newbies.
