Q: What seems the best partitioning software? Partition Magic seems to be the most mentioned, but after reading all user reviews on CNet, I wonder if there is anything better for WinXP SP1. It seems fairly well distributed in the middle of the people who have problems with XP and those that do not. I have an 60GB drive using NTFS partitions and I do not just want a small partition for backup purposes. I do not want to lose my data and Fdisk.

Re:another positive vote for partition magic. I've used it at least 15 times on different situations/computers/drives. Never had one problem. Though I would format if I get the chance but using that can be a much simpler quick solution for a needed partition. As for it's speed… I really dont care. Its not like I partition every day. I also question "faster" utility programs, especially when it comes to formatting or file management. I'd rather go slow and safe instead of fast and have data errors later (not that any of the faster prorgams would do that).

a basic no brainer.
A stiff competition is ACRONIS PARTITION EXPERT 2003.
They claim to be 1000% faster, while that is hardly true, it definitely
is noticeably faster.
