Q: Ok, Ive put together a computer and recently ran into a problem. Im not sure whether the RAM or the CPU, maybe I can help your out.
When I installed Windows on a hard disk drive and stuck it to the new computer to install Windows works fine on another computer. However, the new, it will load until it gets close to the desktop then I get a nice bluescreen for 0.1 seconds and the computer restarts. Ive often blue screens loadup about page fault errors.
I thought it might be a new installation of XP needed, so I did, but the installation could not complete as it would also get blue screens. Put the hdd back in the other comp, XP reinstalled, put it back into the new computer, and I have the same result. The blue screen that flashes indicates an error if there is something to the effect of: Bad memory something. I can not say because it fast.
ANyway flashes, what would be more likely to be causing the problem, the RAM or CPU? I would switch on cpu / ram combos, but he only uses DDR SDRAM and I have, and my desktop CPU is putting together a project at this time. Im on my laptop: (
thanks guys!
Best Answer: Dear Rooster,
It is clear that your system is infected by Serious virus,
Now no solution will mend it.
Now if you want to save your presious time than re-installing xp is only way to come out from this problem.
Re:no i don't, but he did send the ram back and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. guess i'll have to wait till then.

Re:hi,
in my experience, blue screens during startup are almost always due to bad ram. and i've even had bad sticks from crucial.
do you have any memory that you can swap out?
Re:Something is wrong in that new computer setup. Start very basic with bare minumums. Leave the sound cards, nics, etc. out and don't overclock or anything.
Re:i understand that, so when i formatted the hdd in the new comp, and tried to install windows but i kept getting page fault errors and blue screens to that effect.
Re:Let me get this straight. You have a computer and you installed windows on a hard drive, then moved this hard drive into your new setup and attempted to boot. This is your whole problem. Sometimes this will work but most of the time it will not and you will be required to do a format and install in the computer it will be used in.
