Best Answer: You can boot with any cd true and try a repair BUT you can't have an upgrade cd it must be full version and if the computer is proprietary you will need a manufacturers cd/dvd…

Re:Sounds like you have a problem with one of your USB devices, whether it be the actual USB controller itself, or any peripheral USB device you might have attached to your computer.

My first guess would be to detach all USB devices from your computer, then restart and see if you have the same non boot after windows restart problem. If this works, then plug your USB devices back in one by one, testing each time that windows reboots properly.
If you end up having a problem USB device, check the manufacturers website for driver updates that may fix the problem.

Hope this helps. =) Let us know what happens.

There are a multitude of reasons for XP failing to Shutdown or Reboot.

You need to give a description of you particular Hardware/OS setup
(i.e. Motherboard, CPU, Sound card, Drives, etc…)

Also, have you checked the EVENT LOG to see if it has any indication
as to what may be the culprit?

i just got this amd with the ecs elitegroup mainboard iso9001

i have a 40 gig main master drive that loads to xp and then i have a slave 60 gig with all my back up

i have a cdrw set to sec master..

i got a power magic 500 watt power supply, and a cool master cpu fan.

where is the even log? can u help me out..
