Q: In Doom 3, Far Cry, and one of the tests on 3dmark, I have a weird problem where graphic t black squares flashing the entire screen. sometimes more and sometimes less. I can not figure out how to determine this. I have directx 9b, Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb, 2.4b, Pentium 4 GHz and 512 MB of RDRAM. If someone could tell me how to fix that would be great. thanks.
and my Doom 3 graphics settings are on medium, with all advanced switched except vertical sync and antialiasing set to 2x. and resolution of 1024×768. and everything was set to default on 3dmark.
edit: I also again a while ago, but I had the same problem on Far Cry and 3D Mark before I formatted.

Re:Try the ATi Catalyst 4.9 beta drivers (http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4547.html). They are a Doom 3 Hotfix.

Re:If you're not overclocking it could be a defective card. Also you haven't flashed it with any BIOSes have you?

Re:I had the identical problem a while back. After trying various drivers, and reformatting my hardive, I RMA'ed the card back to ATi and the replacement card fixed the problem.

they don't look as annoying in the screenshots, because in the game i notice it more because they are constantly flickering, and a lot of the flickering ones didn't got caught in the screenshots.
and my computer is not overclocked at all. it's a dell and everything is the same as when i got it, except i added 256mb ram and a sound card.

It limits your frame rate to whatever your monitor's refresh rate is at, to keep from tearing the images during high motion scenes.

vysnc helps a LOT, for me anyway.
