Q: The title should tell you what I want. I am planning a dual boot with XP and Vista. I have Vista Business and Home Premium in a few weeks as OEM upgrades. I have XP Pro and XP MCE.
My idea to a company with a home media mix OS OS . I just do not know what mix would be better.
1) XP MCE and Vista business
2) XP Pro and Vista Home premium
I have not considered the same (for XP MCE and the VHP, XP Pro and VB), but if the experts believe that a better choice, I will be doing.
What imagine? Why? I know that I will not let us down Ater: D
Thanks
Alex
Best Answer: You can't really do that legally. Now, there are a lot of people who do this however, and the person who answered right before me is wrong about quite a bit.
I've seen on numerous Torrent sites (Isohunt, Demonoid.com, etc.) people who distribute "pirated" copies of Windows XP and such. Now, there are ways to get around needing a product key for every fresh install on every computer. I've seen those sites with 1,000's of people downloading the same operating system. In the comments, most people will comment back and confirm that they didn't need a key AND that they were successfully able to do a Windows update and pass the WGA verification without any problems. The operating system already comes "pre-activated".
It's just the way that you make your own copy of Windows XP and structure in the whole key thing. Right now, I'm running a copy of WIN XP that I made myself. During the reformat, I didn't need to enter any key and I pass WGA verfication every single time.
If you know how to re-author software and such, I'm sure you could figure it out. There are many guides out there for that kind of thing.
The links below will show you different people "handing out" pirated copies of WIN XP.
Now, I'm in no way telling you to download these and use them. That is illegal and can be dangerous, because you never know when the uploader of these torrents has put a virus in them or whatever.

Back to square one then…. so, you would suggest XP pro and vista home premium?

Re:Well, if it makes any difference, XP MCE has basically all the features of XP pro plus the media center interface. Vista Premium, however, does not have all of the features of Vista Business.
So, in terms of most features available: Vista Business, XP MCE.
