Q: Man oh man I follwed some advice from some people here and DVDShrink is the bomb! Super easy to back up I just my “old school” DVD in about 20 minutes (not including burn time) for my + R awesome.
I say thats true, because DVDXCopy Hey its free! You can not beat. Im on to another DVD of me trying to back up. Has anyone had problems with this badboy. It does it all I just follwed the guide on the website then burned NERO.
Please some feedback would be welcome, any problems? What is your experience?
Re:I didnt receive full Nero with my DVD writer … only express …
I guess that means I need to buy it …
I'm looking at SmartRipper right now ….
___________ damn … it doesnt recognize my CD-RW disk … … wtf …
anyway to format my CD-RW to DVD format …?
Re:dont use nero express. use the full nero. then you need to burn the files in dvd video mode. drag all files to the video_ts folder.
Re:The files (VOB's) created by Shrink are not recognized by my Nero Express (v5.5.10.54)
Anyone know why …? I hope I dont need to buy a new version of Nero …
… if I need a new version … I'd rather use a free DVD ripper then … suggestions?
Re:the links arent broken … just turn off your firewall for the D/L link
Re:Nevermind — I think the site probably came back up about exactly the same second I hit submit. Time to test.
Re:The links at dvdshrink.org are broken for downloading this sucker — anyone have alt links where I can get it from, the reviews have me convinced it needs to be looked at.

What I don't understand is why are people still paying alot of money for DVDXCOPY when they can get DVDShrink for FREE!!
Every time I goto frys I see a couple of people paying $50-$80 for DVDXCOPY WHY!!! are they really that naive?
Yes they are. ![]()
Re:DVD Shrink is sweet. Here's some great tutorials. (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?s=e29a4b9b8678a094b2c03a885b292b6 b&forumid=72). DVDR Help (http://www.dvdrhelp.com) is also a great resource.
Re:It's pretty good except when I backed up my Matrix movie the volume ended up being softer than the original DVD. Any ideas how to make the volume higher?
Re:does anyone know how I can do this?
ok, ripped "2 fast 2 furious" to my HD (Movie Only) BUT I also ripped the little mini movie "The Prequel" Heres what I want to do, I want to have the "The Prequel" Play first THEN the MOVIE.
I downloaded .ifoedit but I am at a loss as to how to use it, and the homepage's guide doesn't say how to do it.
I opened the .ifo file and as it is now the movie will play first THEN the prequel which is not the way I want it.
If anyone can help thanks!

Is it possible to use dvd shrink to remove everything else except the main movie and retain the capability of chapters and 5.1 sound?
The best luck I've had with that is compressing everything else to like 10%, and taking out all the audio for everything I don't want. If it's possible to completely take it out, I just haven't figured it out yet.

Re:I just discovered dvd shrink reciently and it's sooo much better than DVDXCOPY! I hated wasting 2 dvd+rs for one stupid movie!
Re:Actually I heard about shrink from this forum (doing a search about DVD copying):D

Re:I would highly recommend Instant Copy as well. Excellent program with much more options. If you wait, you can get it FAR.

Yeah there guide makes it super easy to understand.
Can you link the guide?
Link for guide (http://dvdshrink.info/re-author.php)
Re:Dvd shrink and Instant copy are both awesome programs. Only thing is that sometimes Dvdshrink changes the default audio when u take out some audio tracks…nothing ifoedit can't fix though.

Re:DVDShrink is much better than DVDXcopy. If the movie just need a little compressing it's great. I normally just do movie only so 70% of the movies don't require any compression at all. For those that need a little, Shrink is the answer. For something like LOTR or Pearl Harbor, a tool like CCE is much better.
Yes, you can keep the menus. Just rip the whole disc to your HD and load the Video_TS.ifo file into shrink. I use the beta version and it allows a little more in the way of reauthoring the disc. The only thing I don't know how to do is to keep the menu when the movie is in a title set other than 1.

dvd shrink = free … nothing else matters.
It would matter if the performance wasn't there also………..
Re:dvd shrink = free … nothing else matters.
Re:Only thing is can I keep the menu's or Chapters? I need to figure out how to do that still.
Re:yeah, they even made the auto compress feature

Re:I mean is it really this simple or am I dreaming? I love it.
With DVDXCOPY you get that annoying disclaimer, I know you can remove it but its another step you have to do with a diff. program and with DVDShrink there is NO disclaimer.
