Everyone has an opinion about the Linksys Wireless products? [linksys router] [linksys wireless]

Q: I just bought a laptop and would like to have it connect to the wireless Internet. I bought a / AP / printer server. I have the Linksys network cards to buy for my laptop and workstation. Just do not want to comment or experience.

Re:The Cisco 350 is a PCMCIA wireless card…I have the Aironet 4800 WAP.
Works really well except it is inline with my router and seems to freak out my DNS settings from time to time.

Re:Is the Cisco 350 an AP and firewall like the linksys?

Re:I used to have a Linksys BEFW11S4 (I think that's the model #). Anyhow it was the Cable/ADSL router + 4 port switch + Wireless hub. It worked ok with my 3com Airconnect PCMCIA card but the range was a bit short. However it absolutely refused to work with my Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA card.

Eventually I just gave up returned the BEFW11S4 and got a WAP11 instead. The WAP11 only has 40-bit WEP, but the range is better and both my PCMCIA cards work. I've heard that Linsys has released newer firmware for the BEFW11S4 so it might cooperate now.

But at work I use a Cisco 350 AP and that thing has the best features and really good range.

Re:so you suggest i get the lucent cards?

Re:The router isn't a bad product. However, the only issue I had was getting a solid connection to the router over the wireless portion. Sometimes, I would only get a medoicre connection about 50 feet away. I ditched my wireless router and got a Cisco Wireless Aironet 340. That works wonders and it was only a little more expensive on ebay!

I have a friend who has this but has Lucent Ornicco adapters to connect to it and it works great. He gets a good solid connection without any problems in his two story house. I have another friend who has this router and the linksys cards to go with it and he gets a ok connection, but has some range limits (about 250 feet I believe).

I think your mileage may vary since I have heard so many differing accounts. :)
