The FSFT forums, are they pretty reliable? I'm skeptical of buying used electronics….
And back to the topic, if you get a chance to play Red Orchestra, try to be one of the Russian officers…you get a fantastic automatic called the PPSH (some of the Russian Assault troops get it, too). If you're able to sneak up on a group of Germans (like 5), you can mow em all down!! Great fun!! Be sure to crank up the graphics so you can see a bit of blood coming off the body with every hit (not a great deal, just enough to let you know you hit them). Anybody have a favorite class they use?

The fact that very little people are playing UT2k3 online in general probably has something to do with it as well. I just recently picked up UT2k3, and I was extremely disappointed at the lack of online players. Hopefully the release of 2k4 will pick up players overall and players for Red Orchestra. It would be nice to see a solid mod scene for 2k4.

I certainly like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, UT, Half Life, etc…., but Red Orchestra has a unique game style about it that keeps me coming back for more!

indeed, dying so easily almost makes it mandatory to travel in teams of 2 or 3 people. great fun if you get on a clan server or a full server with several regular players

Re:People are right when they talk about the game being slow paced (well, as compared to Quake or UT)….but it is supposed to be more realistic than those games. Keep in mind that if you were a WWII soldier fully dressed out, you sure as heck couldn't be running all the time. You can run in this game, but you're limited to the distance you can run at any one time. If you've run close to your max or max, your character breathes heavy and needs some time to recoup (catch breath) before being able to run again. If you shoot someone in the leg, they can't run any longer (and depending on the damage done to said leg/foot, that person may actually walk slower).
The game contains a great deal of realism and isn't for everybody, but in my mind, its the best game out there!!
Re:I've been playing Unreal 2 XMP "expanded multiplayer", there's a free trial with 1 map, and to get the full game all you need is an Unreal 2 CD. The game plays similar to UT2003 but the game that is played is a CTF/DM fusion with vehicles.
I prefer it over UT2003 (I haven't tried Red Orchestra yet)

Yes go get scope view, however you're unable to move at all while looking down the scope. You also get down the barrel view like in COD, but you move very very slowly. The whole game is very slow paced.

Re:omg, i totally forgot about this mod. I shrugged it off during the nvidia best mod contest since it aimed for ut2004, although the primary release would be for ut2003.

Re:I have tried it and while loved the improved graphics, I couldn't stand how slow paced the game feels. The "realism" is nice (no corsshair, no bullet count) but there should be an option to turn it on. There are hardly any people playing it though…

Re:The mod is really an UT2003/2004 mod. Its being developed using the UT2003 engine and will be "ported" over to UT2004 where the developers will be able to utilize the new features found in UT2004's engine.
Technically, that price would make it nearly free….
