Question: Hello world!
I have found over the net, a software that is (or should be) able to temps of the CPU by a few degrees lower. Its called Extreme CpuIdle, version 7.0.4.
Well, I live in Brazil, and I got used to the heavy racing games to play almost daily, and now we have summer here (35oC the average ambient temps). So, even using ALCU Zalman cooler on my PC, sometimes after 01 hours running these games the CPU temps reach around 65oC or even a bit more . It would be great to get lower temps as “heavy work”, and it is what this software promises
. So, just to offer some opinions that have already tried to hear . I do not believe in miracle (related to “PC” issues), so, logic tells me that this software should manage to “step down” the CPU, to get her temps a bit lower. If it is true, it would be counterproductive when playing heavy games (FPS worse )?. Is it safe to install? (It seems that this particular utility spyware free .). Is it worth to try?
lot of questions, and I need your help .
Any further information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for any tip!

CPU "cooling" software usually works by issuing the halt command when your CPU isn't being used, but in the case that you're playing games your CPU will never get the opportunity to enter the halt state. So this software solution won't do anything for you.
and windows2000 and newer support that feature, a third party software is only needed for winME and earlier

Re:If nothing else, all modern OS's already do that(WinNT/2K/XP, Linux, etc), so those kinds of programs are useless these days.

Re:Thanks for your opinions, guy & guy!
It seems that this soft ONLY works when the CPU is really IDLE, what is useless for me (my idle temps are fine – around 39C & 40C – even in this summer). I think that makes no sense to use this software, because the Critical Time of any system is when it is under heavy load…
Anyway, txs a lot for attention, buddies! ![]()

Re:Dont know about that software, but your temperatures are certainly high, even for 35C ambient temperature. Do you have a good intake and exhaust fan in your case? that would be the first thing I would fix, a good airflow that makes certain the air gets exhausted properly. Secondly, I would look into using something like the Thermaltake Silent Tower heatpipe (it's huge) with an additional 120mm fan to really push the air away from the heatsink. Three fan controllers (for intake, exhaust and cpu fans) would allow you to adjust the noise-to-airflow ratio to an optimum.
