Feature wise it better to buy? Linksys BEFW11S4 or Netgear MR814? [netgear mr814] [linksys befw11s4]

Q: I have the for $ 75 and $ 50 for the .

The better buy (feature wise) is? Perhaps a better wireless router in this price range? Comment away!

Thanks in advance guys. -Guy

Best Answer: i do not quit get your explanation but if i am right you have a router connected to the internet.
lets say the inside ip number of the internetrouter is 192.168.1.1 dhcp on the internet router can be on
now connect the netgearwaprouter to the internetrouter set the ipnumber to 192.168.1.2 or let it retrieve via dhcp.
set the wap to router and wireless and give outisde numbers of for example 10.0.0.1 etc. use nat on all and dhcp gateway is then 192.168.1.2 (because that leads to the router wich on his turn will lead to the internet)
goodluck

This is not necessarily better, and not worse.

Most of them are basically the same.

However it does 11/22Mb/sec. so with the right Wireless Client you may get slightly better performance.

General Info on the subject here: Wireless What Should I Get (April, 2003 Edition)? (http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Hardware.html)

Just running a regular 11 Mbps wireless card but I did notice this tidbit of info (specs) from that link:

Data and network security with 64-bit,128-bit, or 256-bit WEP data encryption and MAC address authentication

256 bit WEP encryption? The most I've seen on wireless routers at this pricepoint was 40 bit. Am I being misled?

contact me ASAP. i'm in the same boat as you and we need to discuss this. btw, anyone else have any input on this?

Re:I liked some of the features on the netgear. Remote administration from a specific IP, dyndns client built in, and a nice interface.

Re:I think I tried the MR814 before using the BEFW11S4 and if I remember right, it was slower and cut bandwidth some.
