File and Printer Sharing from hell [linksys wrt54gs] [wireless router]

Q: 3 weeks ago I got a () to my laptop and desktop connect through a home network, I hung it up and set up and my DSL was shared between computers with no problem, but the computers can not see together, so I can not share files and printer, Ive tried so many tips Im on the verge of insanity, if someone could help me figure out what I am going to miss mighty grateful, so far I done the following :

-Switch firewalls and antivirus
-Check IP numbers and subnet mask, they are ok and the computers, each other
-File and printer sharing, ping tcp / ip is installed in all machines
machines have different names and same working group name
-simple file sharing is enabled (I am Win XP home running on both computers) 977 503-I even installed NetBEUI and it is not working

It is ironic how I stuff downloaded from a server on the other side of the world and yet I can not access my computer in the room: frown:

Re:My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View

Look for it, it will say recommended but I've found that my network is useless until I turn it off, then everything works for me.

do you have specific folders you are trying to share? Are they setup with sharing along with the proper permissions? Have you tried running the share path?

\\ip address\share path

\\192.168.1.1\SharedDocs

I've set up some folders I want to share and marked them in the properties tab, I haven't been able to run the share path either :(

any more ideas?
