Best Answer: first spend the money and have the system checked out by a tech. it may be something simple and a few bucks. also do a system restore to get rid of SP3, i know of a few people that have had issues after installing it.
honestly, i would take the system completly appart and reassemble it before buying anything. strip it out including removing the motherboard. it may something as simple as a loose screw worked its way behind the motherboard and is shorting something out. or the CPU may not be seated correctly or the heatsink is loose. rebuild it with fresh thermal paste and boot. see what happens.
40C idle and 50C load with WATER???
dude i run air cooling and even at max load my CPU never gets above 50C…

I had 98se installed and chose just to upgrade as opposed to a clean install since i was planning on formatting later this week and putting 2000 on there since i am awaiting a 3com nic card. But after installing this I am having 2nd thoughts. I am still gonna format but am probably going to put win XP on there. Its a great OS and works well with my games (the few that I play). Also all my burner software works well. Installation was kick ass and did everything for me. I went to class and came back and all i had to do was activate it. It took the work out of everything. I also use batch files for decompressing and compressing wave files and surprisingly those still work. So i am definitely going to stick to this OS. 100% stable so far and no yellow signs in Device Manager!

So what do you guys think of XP so far?
I'm really liking it.
All the stability and power of Win2000, and it feels very polished to me…there's just something about the interface that makes it feel very clean and well put together.
(I don't like the default blue, I use silver).
Some of the icons are a bit childish looking it's true…but on the whole the new UI feels a little nicer to me.
So far so good in my books
