Fixed instability with AMD SB and live on my computer [sb live drivers] [factory defaults]

Q: I applied for a consistent crashes with games like Unreal and Half Life have. Eventually I reformatted my hard drive and started over. I started the game and stuff like that and they were smooth and I was stable as a rock. Previously I was not able to go for more than 5-10 minutes without crashing. Then I decided to upgrade my than the factory settings. When I did, it began crashing again and nonsense. So now I uninstalled latest drivers and went with the factory drivers and last week I was stable with games. So, someone else uses their computer brand? Click on my link to my rig setup to see. FIC SD11 motherboard via a half wide between 686A (north) and an AMD 751 (south) chipset.

Re:<Just to be picky the 686a is the Via Super south bridge and the AMD 751 is the North.>

Very true:)

Re:guy,I meant no IRQ or general stability problems not the 686B issue.I remember guys with SBlive having IRQ and install problems with Via boards before the 686B southbridge chipsets.

Re:<< I`m another person that is running a SBlive and Via KT133 board with no problems since last September >>

The problem is NOT with the KT133 and the 686A. The problem is with the KT133A and the 686B.

Re:I`m another person that is running a SBlive and Via KT133 board with no problems since last September anyway my problem is with Creative labs, how long must we wait now for driver updates?…by the time we get updates I will be receiving my pension from work :( they used to have good regular updates (years ago) but now seem to be well non-existant,anyway looks like CL have lost another customer when I get my next Soundcard.

Re:The FIC SD11 motherboard is a halfbreed between a Via 686A (north) and a AMD 751 (south) chipset.

Just to be picky the 686a is the Via Super south bridge and the AMD 751 is the North.

Re:red-ass…. hahahahahah

Re:The FIC SD11 always was a problem child. I have one sitting on the shelf that gave me nothing but red-ass. Some people swear by them, but I will never buy another FIC product again. Upgraded to an ASUS A7V board and used all the same components that were in the old system – even the installed OS – and system is working flawlessly.

Your mileage may vary.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I am also using a Sound Blaster Live! on both the old & new MB's with no problems.

Re:WOW, that must be what all those engineers at VIA and Creative missed! You're are a fricked genius! heheh :)

No really though, I hope it helps people out there that have that same config.

Re:Yeah, I'm pretty sick of SB crap, am waitin or a good deal on a santa cruz for new PC.

Re:<< i solved my sb issues too…i bought a santa cruz…lol >>

DITTO :)

Re:I had problems with the Dagoth Moor Zoological Gardens demo. Anyway, quite surprisingly, it won't work with Creative's liveware, but it will work (for a bit, but then it will eventually crash, probably due to the fact that I've got a Radeon, and it was meant for a Geforce in the first place) with Windows 2000's default drivers.
