Re:Interesting…. did you tell the BIOS that the floppy was there or not?
I suspect that if you tell the BIOS that there's no floppy drive, WinMe might not hang.
If you can do the experiment and report back, it'd be interesting to some of us.
Re:i'm past it… cuz i broke down and hooked one up hehe
thanks tho
Re:Ah, sorry, I misread your message; guess it's a good thing to give oneself time to wake up in the morning before posting messages.
Anyway, just an idea…try disabling the floppy controller in the BIOS, and also if there is an option about "floppy drive seek" or similar, disable that one, too. Then maybe if Win M.E. doesn't see the floppy controler, it won't even bother looking for a floppy disk.
Edit: typo fixed.
Re:no it hung on the install… i wasn't anywhere near being able to get into windows… the hd was still blank…

Re:I'm using Windows 2000 right now, but iirc in Win9x/ME there was an option (My Computer > Properties > something maybe?) to enable a floppy drive check or something. Anyway, I know it's in there somewhere…and I'll try to check tomorrow when I have access to a M.E. system for the afternoon. But that might help, to turn that option off.
