Fortron 350W PSU silencer problems [power connector] [depa]

Q: My PSU (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-966u0026amp; = 1) had a

I this race for six months w / no problems, but the rattling fan so I began to rmad newegg, they sent me another, it would not post my 9700AIW fed with extra floppy . So I have my old 300W PSU no brand name, and it worked flawlesly, so I thought ok, doa PSU that newegg sent me. rmad the weather got the second RMA yesterday, and it does the same thing dasm. I tried two different no name brand 300W PSUs and they both work perfectly (using one of them to type this up)

any ideas about whats the deal?

I tried using a ferrite core to ensure the problem was no feedback from the vid card and vid card works perfectly with two different PSUs. (I dont have another vid card to test with) so I doubt its my video card. cause actual issue.

when I Forton in the system, the power would only long for the CPU fan engough video and true, no beep codes, nothing.

Re:Thanks for the ideas, I tried just hooking up the hard drive, optical drive and fans, and shorting the power on, everything came on fine, added the video card and down she goes again. I guess I need to find another video card that has the floppy somewhere and test that way.

I don't really have another board to test with (I have another one, but it's my web server, I never turn it off)

Re:Do you happen to have an atx psu tester?

Or, maybe plugging it in to another motherboard?

Even just loading it up with a couple fans/HD's/etc, and shorting the green/black wires + see if it starts that way?

Even if you feel some of the responses are funny, there is definitely something going wrong if you can't get a good-quality p/s to turn on…

Re:Did you connect the 4-pin 12-V connector from the PSU to the motherboard?

Re:yes, I also tried using that and reducing the load on the psu by unplugging the hard drive, optical drive and floppy drive from the system.

Re:Have you tried using a HDD to FDD plug adapter and runing power to your vid card that way?

Re:no, I checked it before I installed it. (I'm a field engineer for Unisys) good try tho. anyone else please feel free to chime in on any ideas.

I've e-mailed forton's U.S. headquarters, but I doubt I'll get a response at least until monday or tuesday.

Re:Hmm, could the voltage input switch on the back be preset to 220v, and not the 110v you most probably need?
