Q: My last two shiny new EVGA 7900GTs (and worthless UPS) today. : D
So I plug them in, boot into Windows and everything starts artifacts like hell. Now, Im not really sure what is wrong at this point. Ive tried a fit of the CBC, tried different GS, etc. Now in the end everything works ok because Im typing and Im still happy with my 7900GTs 0.
It appears that some settings in the BIOS (PEG Link Mode, I think) was the culprit. Disabled, and then ran fine. Strange thing is after I restarted it does not artifact again!?
ANYWAY, turned and got 3DMark05 13,500 3dmark. Is that good for 7900GTs in SLI?
Right now maps 550/1600 and I do not really intend to go on those little dinky anyhigher GS. Im ready Luckly toilets.
BTW is artifacts caused by my motherboard. Just had to change a setting and everything is good, right?

Even the 06 scores? I've found that 3dmark05 theirs not much difference, but in 06, there's a little more difference.

Email eVGA about it and they will send you a BIOS file that you can then flash with a floppy drive or a bootable ISO.
Also freezes in 3D apps may be a heat issue. How are your temps?
My Video Cards are FINE!!!!!!!!!!!
The issue was with my MOTHERBOARD, ALRIGHT!?!?!?!?!? 
I just had to set the PEG link mode to AUTO instead of NORMAL. ALRIGHT!?!?!?
Now that thats cleared up….lol

Re:That sounds like an okay score(s). My 7800 GT SLI setup gets about 3,000 or so more points than my brothers 7800 GT single, so a 7900 GT SLI getting about the same increase is probably right.
Why is everyone crazy about the new Zalman's though? They haven't put forth any crazy cool numbers to be worth the $50. Is everyone that much into having a "wow" factor or what?

Re:I believe Evga made a statement about their BIOS being F'd up on some of their 7900 GT's, unfortunately its an RMA or a BIOS update.
In regards to your 3dMark05 score, I have near enough exact the same system and specs, I get around that aswell, so I'd say it was about right. The best I got was 13686 and that was with 550/1500.
I get 8628 in 3dmark06.
I'm hoping after my volt mod, Zalman VF900 install and further Oc's I can break the 14k and 9k barriers.
Re:Hey…I too recieved my two 7900GT's on Tuesday (3/28/06).
I was also having general stability problems, as well as the random artifacting. I have a Gigabyte motherboard and I was able to solve the artifacting by changing the PCI-E bus mode from turbo to normal…I'm not sure what the actual setting was called but thats what did it for me.
I was still having stability problems so I went ahead and formatted and did a fresh install. Now its rock hard stable and I even gained a few FPS in most games. I had upgraded from two 6800GT's so I don't think it was a driver issue so who knows.
Felt like time to format anyways.

The artifacting was weird though, it wouldn't show up at first, then it would. Not really sure how I fixed it, but I fixed it.
