I think that having your second router in bridging mode and then connecting it to the Xbox should work. You should give it a try before you go out buying a wireless access point.Would you please help me to configure my Wireless Routers to work in Bridge Mode?

You can choose between SMC, SpeedStream, D-Link, and Netgear..

Re:consider this though… If I have WEP installed on my wireless network, how do I configure that on the bridge?

Re:just thought it through and you are correct, looks like I will be picking up a wet11.. Hopefully it works with my MS router

Re:It is a lot of words that tells you what the unit will not do without stating what Wireless Mode it will work in.

To the best of my knowledge the MS unit can not work as an independent Client unit thus it will not work with the X-BOX.

None of the Wireless Cable/DSL Router can work as a Client Unit. It is against the purpose that they were design for.

Re:here is the text from the MS router:

Bridging mode
The bridging mode turns the base station into a basic switch or access point. As a result, it disables the following features: DHCP server, Network Address Translation, firewall, client filtering, port forwarding, virtual DMZ, and base station log. To learn more about bridging mode, see Help in the Microsoft Broadband Network Utility or your User's Guide.

Re:If you MS can be configured in Client Mode than you can put it on the X-Box.

Otherwise it is no good since you need a second Bridge (Bridge can only talk to Bridge).

May be you should read this: Wireless Network – Configuration Modes. (http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html)

Re:I have the MS and The Netgear MR814.. Is this possible with these routers? The MS has the option for Bridge mode only.. I think that is what I want.

Re: that can be turned to a Bridge Mode? As far as I know only one Entry Level Wireless/Cable Router can do so.

However what you need is a Wireless Bridge that is Computer independent, since it goes to the Game Boxes. A lot of Independent APs can do it. It just easier with the WET11.

Re:Do I have to go with a Wet11? I have access to another that I can turn into bridge mode, wondering if I can go with that or not..

Re:Buy Linksys WET11, stick it onto inexpensive switch, and connect the Game Boxes to the Switch.
