Q: I already bought and finished HL2 and Id like HL: Source and DOD: Source (when it comes out), but Steam will not let me because he says “Only one purchase per HL2 Steam account? ?
Uhhhhhh . Who knows what the **** Steam does have an idea how I can get these two games without having to re-buy HL2? There are absolutely no options on Steam for getting these games to buy, unless you HL2 silver or gold packages.
Best Answer: When you install Counter-Strike onto your computer with steam, it binds the CD Key to that account, effectively telling steam that your account is allowed to play it. So now, you can logon to your account on any other computer in the world and download and play counter-strike, because steam knows that you have rights to the game. Which is why you were able to play it on your buddy's laptop, because you were logged in on your account. Only one CD Key can be bound to one account. So, when your buddy created an account and tried to play, steam knew that he has no games registered to his account, and even though the game is technically installed on his computer, he can't play it because it is bound to YOUR account. If he wants to play with you, he will have to either use an account from someone else he knows that IS NOT playing at the time, or buy the game for himself. As for the other 3 games that you bought; if you haven't installed them onto your account, he can put them on his. However then you can't play them unless your on his account, which is a waste of money for you.
Re:Oh Ok I was wrong. But it'd suck for people who bought the regular retail or Steam Bronze and want to buy DoD:Source but it ends up being like $40! Although maybe they'll have different rates?
Bearcat, I was thinking you had downloaded Bronze in which case you would've seen that about DoD but I see what you're saying; sucks about retail.

if you went out and bought the regular game then you bought "bronze" and don't get dod:source.
Yeah but I didn't just buy any old HL2, I bought the friggin collector's at $80 which is about what the gold package on steam goes for currently.
Well…
Perhaps it depends how much $ Valve gets from your purchase, e.g. they get more & VU gets nothing when you buy Silver/Gold package. Ergo Valve says TY by giving you more goodies for your $$$.

Re:It will be available separately, why would it only be available to those who bought the right package to begin with? Valve isn't stupid.
Re:Originally posted by: guy
I don't think you can get it unless you buy the Silver or Gold packages. DoD:Source is not released but will be available for silver and gold users when it is. I thought it was explicitly stated that you needed the silver or gold for those games.
Collector's edition gets DoD:Source when its released too AFAIK.
Uhhhh….explicity stated where? It's explicitly stated in Steam AFTER you've already bought the game, but for those of us who simply went to the store and bought the game, how were we supposed to know?
Re:If the package you bought does not come with DOD:S, valve has said it can be purchased by itself. Even for people that never bought HL2, they can still buy DOD by itself. Silver and Gold steam come with it, I am not sure about Collectors edition retail though.

Re:DoD isnt released yet is it?
Re:I'd like to know as well since I shelled out $80 for the collector's edition. Already have HL:Source but not DoD:Source.
